October is Farley Month Fundraiser and Halloween

Can you believe it’s October and fall is here already?
Halloween is right around the corner and it can be a festive and fun time for children and families. But for pets? Let's face it, it can be a downright nightmare. Prevent the stress and dangers this year by following these easy tips.

1. Trick-or-treat candies are not for pets. All forms of chocolate can be dangerous, even lethal, for dogs and cats. Halloween candies containing the artificial sweetener xylitol can also be poisonous to dogs.

1. Keep pets confined and away from the door. Not only will your door be constantly opening and closing on Halloween, but strangers dressed in unusual costumes and yelling loudly for candy can by quite frightening for pets.
2. Keep your outdoor cats inside several days before and after Halloween.
3. Don’t keep lit pumpkins around pets. Should they get too close, they run the risk of burning themselves or knocking it over and causing a fire
4. Don’t dress your pet in a costume unless you know they will enjoy it. It should not constrict movement, hearing, or the ability to breathe or bark and meow.

 
Also for the month of October, we will be offering $10.00 nail trims, and all proceeds will be donated to the Farley Foundation. The Farley Foundation is a registered charity that assists people in need by subsidizing the cost of veterinary care for the pets that mean the world to them. The foundation relies solely on donations. You can also make a donation of any amount and choose from one of many wonderful prizes from our gift basket located up front at the reception desk.  Any donations of $5.00 or more will be automatically entered into our draw, and donations $15.00 and more will receive a tax receipt.
